NYC + Friends
It was great to see a bunch of my friends and do all of my favourite things (Chobani store, can I work for you, please?).
In NYC, I feel as though if I’m not doing something, or don’t have something planned, I’m missing out or wasting time. Since I knew I only had a short weekend in the city, I was excited for the fast and busy pace, although it definitely came at a cost, as I was exhausted all of Monday.
I re-started this show about two days ago, and I’m already on episode 7! Yikes. I need to stop bringing my computer into my room before I go to sleep…
I first tried this show out on Netflix about a month ago, and couldn’t get through the first episode. I don’t know what I was expecting, but the the show just didn’t “grab” me.
I tried it again this week, and once I made it through that first episode I was intrigued! I still find some parts disturbing and gross, but I became more and more interested when I would learn about the background of a character. The show does an incredible job of weaving the inmates’ histories into the present day scene, by using flashbacks. You actually start to sympathize with some of the criminals, as you’re given a small glimpse into their past which took an unfortunate, slight wrong turn.
No Bake Cookie Dough Protein Bars
Okay, so last week I raved about my No-bake chocolate peanut butter protein bars. I thought I was very much in love, until…these.
I altered the original recipe a little, mainly by using vanilla protein powder instead of chocolate. After one small testing of the dough, I immediately thought: cookie dough! And I don’t joke about cookie dough. Although the recipes pretty similar to my other protein bars, I’ll post the recipe anyways, if only just for the sake of looking at yummy pictures.
Exercising With Others
I realize this one sounds kind of sad. Like, what are you usually, a loner??
Nooooo. However, the first couple weeks in Philadelphia I really enjoyed exploring the city on my own by running and walking. I would also use the gym in our building because it’s so convenient.
However, after I went to my first Body Cycle class, I was reminded of the power of group exercise, and how much of an impact other people can have on your energy output!
The same thing has been happening when I’ve been playing squash, and also at Unite Fitness. For this reason, most of my workouts here in Philly are going to be in the format of group training, so that I can really try and get faster and stronger, as opposed to simply increasing my endurance.
Question: What’s one of your favourite things from the week?
