Hey hey! How’s your Tuesday going so far?
It feels like Monday over here since we had yesterday off from practice, making it feel like we had an additional weekend-day! Although it’s kind of a weird feeling, I’m not going to complain, since Tuesdays can sometimes be a bit of a struggle mentally.
In any case, let’s do a recap of the weekend, since it was packed with fun, friends, and family!
Saturday morning kicked off the Ivy Scrimmages squash tournament, which was held up at Yale, as it is every year. Princeton played Cornell first round, and were fortunate to come out on top with a 7-2 win! That set us up to play Harvard, the no. 1 seed in the semi-final. It was a hard-fought battle, but we managed to win 5-4 over the top ranked team.
After a long day of matches, all I wanted to do was hit the hay, but not before heading out the Study for a team dinner + parents.
The spread of food was incredible, and healthy, yet flavourful. You better believe I went back for seconds!
I filled my plate with salmon, chicken, kale salad, quinoa, and a little squash risotto.
The most fun part of the meal?
Sweet potato soup- served in a mug!
I was pretty full after going back for seconds of soup, chicken, and salad, so I only nibbled at the dessert, but it was also given rave reviews. I did manage to put away a tootsie roll pop and a couple gummy bears later on, though :). I miss kid candy sometimes!
I knew I had a tough match ahead of me against Penn, so I made sure to get a solid breakfast in at least two hours before warm-up.
I ordered oatmeal, peanut butter and a banana, as well as a cappuccino!
To be honest, I didn’t love the cappuccino- it really didn’t live up to the one I’d ordered from Blue State coffee the day before. In any case, I drank most of it, and was able to get down most of my oatmeal as well.
About an hour and a half before the match, we checked out from our hotel to head to the courts for our match in the final against Penn.
With our orange bags and huge balloons (left over from the team dinner the night before), we were a hard bunch to miss!
Unfortunately, we came up short against Penn, losing 5-4, but every single player fought hard. I don’t think any of us were too disappointed with our results, because we know that this is only the beginning of the season, and we’ve still got tons of room for improvement!
It was really great to see friends from other schools, my parents (forgot to take a picture with them!), as well as coaches and friends from home!
Now I’m back to the regular ol’ routine, meaning class and school work. Speaking of that, I’d better sign off and go to my precept now! Later gators!
How was your weekend?! What did you get up to?
