Happy first Monday in January!
Is that a thing to celebrate? Personally, I find January to be a bit of a slow month. The excitement of the holidays wears off, and although we are supposedly “motivated” to conquer our New Years resolutions, more often than not they end up feeling like obligations. Furthermore, here in New Jersey, the cold weather begins to set in, making the 15 minute walks across campus seem like an eternity. (Hey! Leaving the comfort of your warm, comfortable bed is hard when it’s freezing outside!)
In order to combat why I will call the “January Blues”, my friend, Hadley and I came up with a calendar, where we will accomplish one specific health goal each day. Inspired by the health media website, MindBodyGreen, the goals are split up into three categories: Mind, Fitness, and Nutrition.
Every Monday morning, I’ll post the calendar for the week, each day’s goals. While I’ll be doing this regardless, I’d love the company, so please feel free to play along and even leave a comment below! Also, if certain goals don’t work for you on that given day, don’t hesitate to switch them around to work with your specific schedule.
This morning I started off “Nutrition” the right way: with a Green Juice!
Our on campus University store is now selling a variety organic, locally pressed juices, which made it super convenient for me to
trudge run over there this morning.
As soon as I got back to my room, I examined the bottle label, took a couple pictures, and got drinkin’!
The juice went down surprisingly okay, probably because I was starting to get a little hungry by this point, and I knew that the sooner I finished the juice, the earlier I would be able to eat some real breakfast!
Speaking of breakfast- it’s time to go eat that now! And then tackle the rest of my to-do list for the day… Have a great start to your Monday, January, and 2015!
