I have to start off by apologizing for being so incompetent at blogging last week. Midterm week just really overtook all of my extra mental energy and time that I usually use for blogging, hence why it fell a little by the wayside. But I’m relieved that it’s all over now, and excited to get back to chatting with you guys!
Let’s do a little bit of re-capping, shall we?
Last Thursday we had a Halloween themed practice, which honestly isn’t too difficult for us to do since our school colours are already black and orange. Nevertheless, our coach did a few extra things to make practice extra Halloween-ey and it was super fun!
First off, she surprised us all with Halloween gift bags!
We also all made sure to wear orange and black to look as festive as possible.
The first part of practice consisted of lots of “fun” games, such as Lives, and Doubles. Lives is a ridiculously dangerous game, but it’s so, so fun. Basically you have a ton of people on court, and it’s a huge free-for-all. If you mess up, you lose a “life”, and when you are out of lives, you have to go and lie down by the tin at the front of the court!
Fortunately, no one got hit (too badly), so we were able to finish practice off with some drills and normal play.
Thursday night of midterm week is always “Princetoween”, aka Halloween at Princeton. Everyone dresses up for the parties, and there’s always such a great feeling in the air because students are so happy to be done with midterms.
I dressed up as Cleopatra which was a bit of a cop-out, since I’ve done it before, but hey, that was ages ago, so it’s allowed, right?
One of the things I love most about Halloween is all of the crazy costumes that people think of. While mine and Alex’s were fairly standard (she was a tiger), we assigned our freshmen funky costumes to make them stand out a little more. Who says no to team bonding?! The dress up theme for the freshmen this year was “vegetables”…can you guess what Lindsey was dressed up as?
Dinner on Friday night was so, so, so healthy.
Well, I was hoping to be able to write a little more on this catch-up post, but my photo stream isn’t working, and I’ve actually got to head out to practice now. Today after practice we’re meeting with a sports psychologist which should be pretty interesting. We all filled out a 30-minute questionnaire to assess our “strengths”, and the psychologist is going to analyze them and then talk to us about how we can best function as a team unit. Should be cool!
Alrighty that’s all from me. I’ll be back tomorrow, and hopefully my photo stream won’t be on the fritz anymore!
What are your Halloween plans this year?
Any cool Halloween costumes up your sleeve?
