Between recovering from midterms, training on campus, and a fall break training trip in Connecticut, I’ve seriously been slacking on the blog updates! Although I missed sharing my random musings with you guys, it was a nice break from being attached to my phone and computer. But now I’m back, which means I’m in the library, and classes and school will be starting again in full swing. How did one week go by so quickly? In any case, here are some of the highlights from the past few days. Get ready, there’s quite a few!
Fall Break 2014 Highlights
The (Sad) End of Prison Break
For the past month or so (maybe a little less), I’ve been completely addicted to watching Prison Break on Netflix. The first weekend I started it, I killed the entire first season. (Just to give you an idea of how much TV time that is, each episode is 45 minutes long, and there are 22 episodes in a season).
Sadly, on Saturday the Prison Break era came to an end. Although I didn’t cry, I found myself with mixed feelings of both sadness and relief. I have to say, I think the feelings of relief came from knowing that hour(s) of my days would no longer be consumed by TV. Woo!
On Saturday night, the whole team came over to Alex’s house for a premature Thanksgiving themed dinner.
I filled my plate with mashed celery root (so good!!!), mashed sweet potato and carrot, roasted root vegetables, turkey, roasted brussels sprouts, stuffing, cauliflower gratin, and some corn bread. Did I mention I went to bed stuffed? And that was before dessert!
I didn’t get a chance to blog on Thursday, so sadly I missed out on giving Hadley the 22nd birthday shoutout she deserves.
Cleo the Jack Russell Terrier (aka “Baby”)
Let me begin by explaining the reasoning behind my Jack Russell Terrier obsession. Last semester I was ehm, “taking a break” in a class called Animal Behaviour, and decided to research the best dog breeds for running. Unfortunately for me, most of these breeds are fairly large in size, and since I am a small medium sized dog lover, I had a hard time finding a cute, non-yappy, yet athletic dog! Eventually, I stumbled upon the Jack Russell terrier, and fell in love.
You guessed it, a Jack Russell terrier!
Although they her name is technically Cleo, they call her “Baby”, and I want her. She’s the most energetic little ball of fun, and we’re convinced she’s the runt of the family, because she hasn’t grown too much since her puppy stage. How ideal is that?! I really wanted to steal her for the week, but was eventually convinced not to :(.
I have an announcement: yesterday I went to my first ever SoulCycle class.
A full recap of my experience is coming tomorrow, but I will say that it was hard and the energy was great. It was for sure different than a normal spin class, but I can see why people become obsessed with it. The instructors are basically Broadway performers, they’re so encouraging and theatrical!

Well, time to do some reading for my classes today! I have a full day of class, broken up by a doctors appointment, and concluding with practice tonight. My bed is going go be looking miiiiighty comfy tonight 🙂
Have a great start to your week!
