As I begin to type up this post, I realize something rather sad: I have not posted many (or any) pictures of my meals/food lately. I have been very on-the-go lately, meaning I haven’t exactly had much time to make sure that my meals look presentable, but still! I apologize. One of my favourite parts about reading other healthy living blogs is the random assortment of ordinary food that is posted. Sure, I love a good food-porn picture here and there, but I honestly love seeing what people’s meals actually look like. In my opinion, decent lighting and a bit of organization make a food picture shockingly appealing. Or maybe I just love food, I don’t know.
Anyway, don’t fear, because I do have a couple of food-related posts coming up soon (hint: they are both healthy snacks!). But for now, let’s shift focus a bit to cover the events of the weekend.
Friday: Match at Princeton vs Cornell (Senior Day)
Although we had our formal senior dinner about a month ago, we also have a Senior Day held the day of our last home match.
This took place on Friday against Columbia, and I really can’t thank the freshmen enough for going all out with decorations, posters and treats. (And of course a huge thank you to the rest of the team for begin such amazing teammates 🙂 ).
I could not have been more fortunate to have Hallie, Hadley and Alex as fellow classmates and teammates, and truly think we have each learned something from one another during our time at Princeton. (I can’t believe I am sounding this nostalgic already… graduation isn’t even for another 4 months!).
It’s been an incredible 4 years, and I can’t quite believe it’s coming to an end so soon! Our league play concluded this weekend, and next weekend coming up is Nationals for which we are 4th seed.
We played well against Columbia, and came away with a victory, which was a great way to end our at-home season.
Sunday: Match at Cornell
I always look forward to playing Cornell (although I’d rather play them at home because Ithaca is so darn far away!) because I have some friends on the team and it’s great to be able to catch up with them, even if just for a few hours.
It was especially great to see Lindsay, one of my best friends from back home. Lindsay and I started playing squash together, went to school together (until grade 9 when I moved schools), and then went off to college in the states “together”.
Although she is in Upstate New York and I am in New Jersey, squash allows us to see each other a few times per semester, and we’re hoping to connect a couple more times post-season as well!
After our matches, we had the chance to hang out and chat for a bit (I was also hungry and she let me steal a little of their food), and also take some ridiculous pictures, for old times sake.
We did our best to replicate some pictures we’d taken back in high school, when we put up a joke ad at the squash club advertising “squash happiness lessons”. Based on these photos, I think it’s safe to say that we have matured roughly 1% since then. Is that a good or a bad thing?
We arrived home around 10 pm last night, and I was beat. It was all I could do type up this post, finish an article for the school newspaper, and crawl into bed. Thank goodness I finished watching Royal Pains last week, so I am no longer being kept up ~1.5 hours past my bedtime for no good reason! Until the next Netflix addiction, that is…
Well, time for me to head off to a meeting, lunch, and then class! I’m also hoping to get a haircut today since it has been way too long (like you don’t want to know how long it’s been…).
Have a great start to your week!
Ps. Happy birthday to my teammate, Rachel! She had a very special seat on the bus home yesterday 🙂
Hope it’s a great one, Rachel! Can’t wait to celebrate your big 2-1 with you… in a week :).
How much have you matured since high school? Since college?
Do you like seeing “normal” pictures of bloggers’ food, or do you prefer to see perfectly edited/manicured food?
