It’s Friday! And you know what I can’t get over? It’s almost mid-September.
What?! Didn’t August just finish?
In my mind it’s still (kind of) summertime, but I know that fall is going to be here in full swing before we know it. Well, I’m going to keep thinking it’s summer for a little while longer and keep wearing shorts and sundresses, however I will definitely be hopping on the pumpkin spice craze ASAP.
Workout + Breakfast
This morning I
slugged hopped out of bed to eat a banana and almond butter before heading out the door for a run. I ran for roughly 50 minute completely unplugged (no music, no Garmin) and finished up at breakfast. I definitely got some weird looks walking into breakfast all sweaty and out of breath, and even more so when I immediately chugged 3 glasses of water.
I started off with a lot of grapes (unpictured) before digging into a mushroom and spinach egg white omelet.
No, that’s not butter on the side, it’s cream cheese! I’m not a huge fan of cheddar in my omelettes, so sometimes I’ll put a little whipped cream cheese on top. The warmth of the omelette causes it to melt, and it’s goooo.o.o.o.d. Well, at least I think so!
I also enjoyed a peach on the walk home 🙂
And I’m eating pistachios by the gallon-full as well as some granola, but let’s move on to some Friday Favourites!
I do not consider myself artistically creative, however I knew that if I wanted to decorate my room within a budget this year, I would have to expand my horizons a little. So, thanks to Pinterest and IKEA, I gathered some inspiration (and friends), and got to work on some DIY decorations.
Picture Frame w/ 3 Postcards
IKEA sells these picture frames with pictures already inside them, but they tend to be pretty expensive. I loved the idea, but didn’t love the price, so I bought one of their frames ($10) and a set of 5 postcards ($3) and put it together myself!
A little effort, a fraction of the price, and one-of-a-kind!
Wood “Nicole” Letters
I’m still deciding on the exact layout of the letters, but for right now they’re like this.
I’ve actually had these for a year, thanks to my friend, Hadley, who painted them for me last summer. I saved them from last year, and now they’re back up on my wall! 🙂
Collage + Frames
So… I have a confession to make. I didn’t make the following collages. Hadley arranged the for me because I am absolutely useless when it comes to these kinds of things, and then I picked the frames from Walmart. Thanks goodness for friends with artistic ability!
That, friends, is what you do when you must find a place to store the bed frame that comes with the beds provided by the University, but can’t remove it from your room unless you feel like getting fined over, and over again.
It looks better in person, trust me. Also, don’t believe that’s what it really is?
Aaahhhhh. Quite possibly my favourite part about my room. I’ve been sleeping like a baby since having been back at school, and can mostly likely attribute it to my large, comfy bed.
Sleeping in a twin bed makes me feel like way too much of a giant, (even if they are extra long), and aesthetically, big beds are just much more pleasing. Plus, who doesn’t love lotsa pillows!? I think I have five 😀
Okay well my pistachio container is nearly empty, I am absolutely parched, and need to go do some real work. Hope you’re having a great last day of the week!
