Between work, end of semester events, and squash, things really picked up towards the end of last week! There was a lot of excitement in the air, not just because Winter break is only a week away, but also because of upcoming formals!
Plus, how can you not get excited when seeing and decorating Christmas trees?!
I didn’t actually get to decorate this tree, but I did get to hang up some festive lights and ivy while listening to Christmas music! (Which reminds me- Michael Buble’s “Christmas” album has been on endless repeat ever since December 1st. Prepare yourself for a lot of Michael Buble talk in the near future!)
I’d had a couple of lighter days at practice last week, so I decided to join the cycling club on Saturday morning for a Sufferfest session instead of taking an off day.
Sufferfest really deserves its own post (which I think will happens this winter break), but basically, they make Cycling training videos. I’ve got a love-hate relationship with Sufferfest, but I am happy to report that Saturday’s session was a success! We did “Fight Club”, which runs for about 60 minutes, and features lots of attacks. It was a doozie!
Although Sufferfest was so much fun, I have to say the highlight of the day (and the weekend) was formals later that night!
Hadley and I met up around 5 to go to a friend’s room for pictures and festive drinks before heading out to the actual event.
The night started with appetizers and cocktails, as well as a magic act! I think magic is absolutely fascinating, but am fairly sure that I would be a terrible magician. I would for sure mess up and give away all of my secrets by accident! Last night’s magician of course did not reveal his secrets, and thus left us all completely bewildered.
After the preliminary festivities, we sat down for dinner around 7, followed by dancing and a lot of chatting.
It’s kind of blurry, but I love this picture of Hadley and me. We had such a fun night, and I tried not get too sad since this was my last winter formal :(.
Tonight we are playing George Washington University, for our last match in 2014. It’s pretty strange going to class the day of a match (we usually play on weekends), but I would take that any day over travelling all the way to DC! Last year we played them away, and thanks to a few accidental detours and mishaps, it took us at least 6 hours to get there. Yikes! Needless to say, you won’t be hearing me complain about my 15 minute commute from my dorm room to the courts in tomorrow’s post (or ever).
Off to do some work! Have a great start to your Monday 🙂
What did you get up to this weekend? Any Holiday parties starting yet?
Have you heard of (or done) Sufferfest training videos?
