Happy Canada Day everyone!!
Although I have yet to wear some Canada gear today, I’ve made up for it in the food department! 🙂
My breakfast this morning was a two-parter:
I started off with some Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Protein Oatmeal…
About 30 minutes after I finished these oats off, I was ready for breakfast part 2. We had some barley left over from dinner last night, and some fresh raspberries, so I decided to combine the two to make a patriotic-looking meal!
My breakfasts fuelled me through my workout today, which consisted of riding to the club, and training with Chris for 1.5 hours. It was good, but my legs didn’t feel quite as springy as yesterday.
After squash, I headed over to my grandparents house to celebrate my granddad’s birthday! (The whole nation is celebrating his birthday today- lucky guy!)
My patriotic food combinations continued, as I made myself a small bowl of cottage cheese, raspberries, and hemp hearts before we actually dug into lunch.
I also had a special present waiting for me…
My grandma might be the most famous grandmother in the history of grandmothers for her cookie baking abilities. Whenever I head back to the East coast, she always sends me back with tons of cookies to share with my friends 🙂
Since I’m leaving for Philadelphia in a couple days, she was well prepared!
Shortbread oatmeal cookies!
I also scored a bag of Anita’s Breakfast Boost…
The “Breakfast Boost” is made by a local family from Vancouver Island, and is a blend of chia seeds, hemp seeds, currants, and cranberries, with a hint of cinnamon! I’m looking forward to putting it in my oatmeal, yogurt, and salads!
Now I’m outside gettin’ my tan on before the Canada Day festivities begin!
